Inspired by Japanese ninja games from the 80s and 90s, Chibi Ninja Shino-kun: Treasure of Demon Tower is a fast and smooth retro platformer in which you climb a giant tower while dodging enemies, traps and other obstacles. Use your wall jump, hookshot and ceiling running abilities to make it past the various enemies and discover the legendary treasure of Demon Tower!

Ninjas are awesome - that is one of the basic truths of the universe. And as it happens, there have been a lot of awesome ninja games too. Especially the 80s and 90s have seen multiple ninjas conquer our screens, be it Shinobi, JaJaMaru-kun or even Goemon. And with Chibi Ninja Shino-kun, I'm trying to bring oldschool ninja action back!

One of the key things ninjas can bring to a video game is mobility, and that's what I decided to focus on with Chibi Ninja Shino-kun. Players can jump, double-jump, slide, dive-kick and wall-jump like a true ninja, and the hookshot not only helps with reaching higher platforms, but can even let players crawl along the ceiling. And they'll need all these skills in order to conquer demon tower, which is stuffed to the brim with platforms, obstacles and spiky pits. Obviously there are also enemy ninjas and demons to fight, but combat is not the focus of the game; instead, enemies act more like dynamic obstacles that can easily be dispatched, if the player knows how. Gotta keep up that ninja flow.

As usual with my games, Chibi Ninja Shino-kun is a loveletter to the humble 90s platformer that brought me so much joy as a kid. I've tried to capture the feeling of those games in both visuals and gameplay, while still trying to put my own spin on it. And while the game is certainly challenging, I've tried my best to make it fair, like the games that inspired me. Well...most of them. I've put a lot of love and passion into this game, and I hope it manages to evoke that simple joy we felt when playing games as kids, in a time when our biggest worries were homework and Tamagotchis.
